Gaza Government condemns Netanyahu’s visit to Buraq Square
GAZA, (PIC)– The Palestinian government in Gaza has considered the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the Buraq wall, the western section of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem, on Tuesday morning, a “provocation to the Muslims”.
Netanyahu’s visit came in light of the Israeli systematic policy to eliminate the Islamic character of the holy city in coincidence with the Israeli election, the government stated.
On Tuesday 22nd January, under the protection of the Israeli police, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stormed al-Buraq Wall, adjacent to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that his visit coincides with the Israeli election day of the Israeli Knesset.
Ismail Radwan, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, said regarding Netanyahu’s provocative visit that “it is a dangerous escalation against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and represents a provocation to the feelings of Muslims and the defiance to the Islamic values ??and principles,” stressing that it came in light of the Israeli systematic Judaization policy against the holy city and al-Aqsa Mosque.
He held the occupation responsible for this dangerous escalation and its implications, calling on the Palestinian people, the Arab and Islamic nation, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the League of Arab States and the nation’s scholars to do their duty to defend Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is in real danger, he said, calling on the nation to move to defend al-Aqsa Mosque.
He declared that this new aggression on al-Aqsa mosque and the desecration of Buraq Square “came after an incitement campaign against al-Aqsa Mosque and calls to blow up the Dome of the Rock and the Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s visit to al-Ibrahimi mosque in the occupied city of al-Khalil.”
He warned that these threats are “an attempt to ignite a religious war in the region which would be a disaster for humanity.”
He called on all leaders of the free world and the international human rights organizations to do their part to stop this escalating aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic holy places.
In the same context, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas considered Netanyahu’s visit to Buraq square as a “terrorist desecration” to the holy site and a stupid propaganda step in light of the general elections in the Israeli entity.
This came in a statement by an official source on Tuesday commenting on the desecration by Netanyahu of the Buraq square, and the storming of dozens of Israeli extremists of al-Aqsa Mosque today.
Hamas stated that the repeated intrusions into al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli leaders and officials are “a failed policy that will never succeed in imposing a new reality on the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
“The continuing Israeli propaganda and incitement to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque aiming to obscure the Islamic landmarks require an immediate action at all levels to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Jerusalem, and to prevent the Israeli continuing crimes against the blessed al-Aqsa mosque and Islamic monuments,” the statement added.
