RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Special forces, affiliated with the Israeli prison authority, raided various wards in Askalan jail on Sunday morning and severely beat up Palestinian prisoners.
The Palestinian prisoner’s association said in a press release that joint forces of the Dror and Matsada units attacked the prisoners in their rooms without prior notice.
It called for international protection for Palestinian prisoners in light of the escalating Israeli assaults.
In another context, official and public delegates and citizens continued to call on the sit-in tent pitched in Jenin in solidarity with those prisoners.
The coordinator of national and Islamic forces in Jenin, Ata Eghbariye, championed national unity in its capacity as a vital issue in defending those prisoners.
He called for a national day in defense of prisoners on Monday, and said that solidarity with those prisoners should not be limited to sit-ins but rather should include urgent meetings for all factions to agree on practical support steps and tabling their issue with the UN Security Council.
