EU calls for opening humanitarian crossings in Gaza

BRUSSELS, (PIC)– The European Union (EU) has called for opening humanitarian crossings for the population in Gaza Strip, and pointed out that 190 Palestinians were killed so far in the Israeli onslaught on the enclave.

Maja Kocijancic, the spokesperson for the EU department for External Relations, said on Friday that all those wishing to leave Gaza should be allowed to do so without any hindrances.

She also called for an end to targeting UN institutions in Gaza, demanding an immediate investigation into the shelling of an UNRWA school.

Kocijancic said that the EU, which has called for an immediate ceasefire, is in constant contact with international and regional parties such as the USA and Egypt to find a way out of the current crisis, adding that any ceasefire should be based on 2012 understanding
