The Israeli regime will continue its “barbaric” operations against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip regardless of any ceasefire agreement, a political analyst tells Press TV.
“Regardless of whether there would be a ceasefire, the Israelis will continue covert operations against the Palestinians. They’re not going to stop their slaughter. Their barbaric blitzkrieg in Gaza will continue,” Brandon Martinez, a journalist and author, said in an interview with Press TV.
Martinez referred to the recent UN-brokered “game of ceasefire” for halting Israel’s current offensive in Gaza, saying the West does not favor a “permanent solution” for Gaza in order to safeguard Israel’s “interests.”
The best solution would be the establishment of a single state “where Christians, Muslims and Jews can live together peacefully, but that is antithetical to the interests of the Zionist regime,” the analyst added.
“The Zionist regime is all about expansion. It’s all about maintaining the Jewish majority in the land that they’ve usurped and stolen since 1948,” he noted.
Israeli warplanes have been pounding numerous sites in the Gaza Strip since July 8, demolishing houses and burying families under the rubble. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.
So far, more than 1,650 people have been killed and over 9,000 injured in the Israeli regime’s offensive against the coastal sliver.
Palestinian resistance fighters continue their rocket attacks against Israeli cities in retaliation for Tel Aviv’s relentless onslaught on the blockaded Gaza Strip. Tel Aviv puts the Israeli death toll from 26 days of attacks at 66, while Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, puts the number at more than 150.
