An Iranian official says the United States is the main accomplice in the Israeli regime’s war crimes in the Gaza Strip as Tel Aviv’s 26 days of aggression is reported to have killed more than 1,650 Palestinians.

“In all this bloodshed in Gaza by the Zionist regime, the US is the main accomplice because all the defense equipment and policies of this regime are US-made,” Iranian parliament’s Director General for International Affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam said on Saturday.

Sheikholeslam, also an advisor to Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on international affairs, said only arms and defense equipment could protect the Palestinians against Tel Aviv’s crimes.

He referred to the high death toll among Palestinians, saying Israel is pursuing genocide in the besieged enclave.

According to the UN figures, the Palestinian resistance group has only killed Israeli soldiers, Sheikholeslam said, adding that Palestinian fighters respect the rules of war while Israel continues killing civilians, mostly woman and children, in Gaza.

Israeli warplanes have been pounding numerous sites in the Gaza Strip since July 8, demolishing houses and burying families under the rubble. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.

So far, more than 1,650 people have been killed and nearly 9,000 injured in the Israeli regime’s offensive against the coastal sliver despite pressure from the international community.

Palestinian resistance fighters continue their rocket attacks against Israeli cities in retaliation for Tel Aviv’s relentless onslaught on the blockaded Gaza Strip. Tel Aviv puts the Israeli death toll from 25 days of attacks at 66, while Hamas sources put the number at more than 150.
