Head of Palestinian National Council Salim Al-Za’noun has issued an urgent appeal to the head of International Parliamentary Union (IPU) urging its intervention to stop the expulsion of Palestinian parliamentarian Khalida Jarrar.
Al-Za’noun called on the IPU to take measures to end Israeli violations against Palestinian parliamentarians, as well as its violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law regarding the parliamentarians.
Last week, Israel’s occupation forces handed an expulsion order to the member of Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) political bureau and PLC Member Khalida Jarrar. She was instructed to leave her home and go to Jericho because she poses a threat Israel. It further informed her about the places where she would have the ‘freedom’ to move.
The IPU head has meanwhile confirmed that the letter regarding Jarrar has been handed to its human rights committee for parliamentarians in order to take the necessary measures.
