BETHLEHEM, (PIC)– Israeli Occupation Authoriteis (IOA) decided to confiscate around four thousand dunums of Palestinian lands, which surround the Israeli settlement of Gush Etzion, south of Bethlehem.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Yoav Mordechai, told the Israeli Channel 7, on Sunday morning, that the confiscation decision was in response to the kidnapping of three Israeli settlers and killing them 3 months ago.
IOA gave the Palestinian owners of the land 45 days to submit objections to the confiscation order, which is intended to expand the settlement blocs in Gush Etzion.
In the meantime, the residents of the settlement of Beit El, north of Ramallah, are waiting for the approval of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to construct 300 housing units in compensation for the evacuation orders of some houses two years ago.
The Palestinian Authority agreed to leave the settlement blocs of Gush Etzion along with the settlement blocs of Ma’ale Adumim, eastern Jerusalem, and Ariel, southern Nablus, under Israeli sovereignty in any future settlement agreement.
